Fusion

2013–2015

With Fusion I intend to explore relationships and memories, trying to give a physical and visual dimension to sensations and emotions that I cannot express effectively with words. At first I cut out shapes in mirrored paper to create reflective sculptures in the form of a still life or portrait. In the second phase I photograph these compositions, using my computer screen to create and shape several reflections in them.

The result of this process is close to an idea of modern expressionist painting, as I try to convey emotions through the use of particular colours and shapes. The bouquets of flowers reference locations of my childhood, while the portraits tend to depict the faces of people I lost contact with, and who I can only recall through memory.
